This page contains some pictures of the project that is currently under way. The end result will be four 102" long brackets to be installed at the Hicks Residence in Old Enfield, Austin, Texas. They will be cast with Hydrocal White into polyurethane molds.
The images above and below show details at opposite ends of the side panels, they are slightly different, resulting in two different profile tools. The detail below shows the 3/4" rolled member at the bottom that will mate with the barrel in the image farther down on this page.
The photo below is another component that will appear horizontally at the nose of the brackets. A mixture of moulding plaster, gauging plaster, lime, and water is run through the profile tool, and this model is the result. The nuts are cast separately using ultracal 30 in a mold produced with the same. Eventually I will produce a polyurethane mold of this component, and cast four of these pieces in White Hydrocal, to be part of each of the four bracket assemblies. The image below shows 1/4 of the barrel. the diameter is 12". The nuts are 1".
The barrel in the photo above will tie the two side panels together at the nose. The image below is the nose end of the right hand panel, as it lays on the table in a horizontal position. After the assembly is installed, this piece will change to a vertical orientation. In other words, the line running left to right at the top of the photo will intersect the ceiling. The brown material is Chavant clay. The rest of the model is primarily moulding plaster.
