The photo below shows Hannibal Pianta during the construction of his shop along with his assistants. This image is a scan of a photo that was probably taken around 1917. This is the beginning of the building at 300 Fredericksburg Rd, San Antonio, Texas.

Hannibals son, Eugene, is standing by him, and I believe that is Dale, another son in his arms. These two boys, and another brother worked with Hannibal until his death in 1937. From what I understand, the studio wound down shortly thereafter, and then sat idle until 1944, when the Monaco family bought the majority of the molds, models, and equipment. The Monacos had apprenticed under Hannibal, and formed a business known as Pyramid Stone.

The next image is a scan of a photo that was probably taken around 1900. This is John Pianta, on the left, at the shop at 509 Leal St., in San Antonio, Texas. Note the address on the sign: TEXAS. The photo is laying on a piece of John's stationery. Notice the blanks for the date_________190__. And, they even had a phone.
